“Land Held” is a meditation on the value of deconstructing our human-centered world. It is inspired by my experiences canoeing on the Upper Mississippi River and the Penobscot Bay, the ancestral homelands of the Anishinaabe and Penobscot peoples. Indigenous teaching of reciprocity encourage a humble approach to our surroundings, a perspective that fortifies resistance to environmental destruction stemming from settler colonialism.
